Squamous cell carcinoma at the tongue is a malignant tumor derived from epithelial mucosa of the oral cavity. This
study aims to identify and to analyze the effect of flavonoid fraction of etanol of ant nests plants (Myrmecodia pendans)as an anti-cancer barrier against the proliferation of SP-C1 tongue cancer cells. The study was conducted with pure
experimental laboratory methods using Supri's-Clone 1 (SP-C1) human tongue cancer cells cultured. Research
gradually begins with determination, extraction and fractionation ant nests plant, cytotoxicity test to get a fraction of
flavonoids that have anticancer potential,and finaly testing the proliferation barriers. Cytotoxicity test showed that
from the highest concentration (1000 μg/mL) to the lowest concentration (7.8125 μg/mL) in etanol fraction, fraction
hexan and water caused Sp-C1 human tongue cancer cells death significantly. Ethanol fraction LC
values of 938,003.
These results were obtained from the linear equivalent of the relation between log consentration and probit. Flavonoid
etanol fraction of ant nest has an inhibition effect against proliferation of SP-C1. Antiproliferative analysis of flavonoid
fraction of ethanol flavonoid based on concentration and incubation time on optical density absorbation SP-C1 cells
was statistically highly significant (p=0.00).

Cheiloscopy is the study of lip print used to identify a person. Like finger print, lip print patterns recently are proven to
have differences in each individual. Groove on the lip is fixed and cannot be changed. Following Suzuki method, lip
print pattern is divided into 6 types, namely complete vertical groove, incomplete vertical groove, branched groove,
groove intersected, groove reticular, and undifferianted. The purpose of this study was to determine the lip print
pattern of Indonesian people, especially the students of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Hasanuddin. This
research was conducted at the Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University. Using random sampling technique, the
sample of the study consisted of 50 subjects that include men and women in the age group 20-24 years. The lips that
have been smeared with lipstick are open on its normal position, smile and the kiss is record. Masking tape is attached
at various positions on the lips and then the tape is attached to the paper to be observed. Data are analysed with a
magnifying glass and classified according to the "Classification Tsuchihashi and Suzukis. The study found all lip prints
show different patterns. The pattern of lip prints is not only made up of only one type of groove, but appears as a
mixture of various types. The pattern of lip prints is generally found in type II and type V is the least found. The study
concludes that no difference in the pattern of individual lip prints on a wide range of positions in the normal, open,
smile and kiss positions.

Elderly people are particularly vulnerable to oral disease. Decreased function of the body can affect the aging process of the organic, and anorganic content in the elderly. The aim of this study was to determine the content of organic elements (total protein level), volume and pH of saliva in the elderly. This descriptive observational study with crosssectional design was performed in Tresna Werdha Gau Mabaji Social Institution, Gowa (n=30)with a simple random sampling technique using 30% of the total population and in Werdha Theodora Makassar nursing home with saturated sampling technique (n = 13). Anorganic contents were measured using spectophotometric and organic content of the total protein level of saliva was measured using an autoanalyzer tool kyltec in BPTP Laboratory Maros. Statistical analysis was performed with t-test using SPSS version 16. There were no significant differences between the anorganic (Ca2+,Mg2+, and phosphate) and organic elements content of saliva (total protein level), the volume of saliva and salivary pH in the elderly by sex and age groups. Yet, there are significant differences in the volume of saliva of elderly who consume drugs for systemic diseases. It is concluded that gender and age do not affect the anorganic (Ca,and phosphate)and organic element content of saliva (total protein content), the volume of saliva, and saliva pH in the elderly. Drugs consumed for systemic diseases does not affect the anorganic and organic element content of saliva and the pH of saliva in the elderly.

Banana plant especially its trunk contains many kinds of fitokimia such as saponin, flavonoid, and tannin which
function as antibiotic and fasten the healing process. Mauli banana stem extract is often used by the people in Hulu
Sungai Utara Banjarmasin Province to fasten healing skin injury. The purpose of this research is to histopathologically
examine the effectiveness of Mauli Banana stem extract to the healing process of the mice’s back (Mus musculus)on
the 3rd day. This purely true experimental research with post test only with control design used 27 mices which were
divided to 3 groups. Treatment group was given methanol extract of mauli banana stem whose average scores of
neutrofil and macrofag are representatively 2.333 and 1; negative control group was given aquadest with its average
neutrofil and macrofag scores are representatively 1.055 dan 1.678; and positive control group was given standard
medicine which contained Aloe veraextract with its average neutrofil and macrofag scores are representatively 1.066
dan 1.667. The result of Kruskall-Wallis and Mann-Whiney showed a significant difference between treatment group
and negative control group. It can be concluded that the extract methanol of mauli banana stem on the healing process
of injury to mancit’s back histopathologically influences the decreasing acute inflamed (neutrofil) cell and the
increasing chronic inflamed (macrophage) cell on the third day. In this case the extract of mauli banana stem is
medically potential to fasten the healing process of injury.

Stem cells provide new hope to fasten the healing process of various oral diseases including periodontal tissue
(periodontitis). At present time, there is not yet found a material that can fix the teeth perfectly. Adult stem cells from
bone marrow widely used for treatment. Numbers of stem cell are limited so growth factor is necessary to promote
proliferation of stem cells. Growth factor that has been used is expensive and difficult to get. Because of these
constraints, it is necessary to develop alternative uses of medicinal plants as growth factor that accelerates wound
healing process. This study is aimed to proven what extent the potential Pegagan (Centella asiatica L) as a natural
growth factors to stem cells. The ability of proliferation and osteogenic differentiation in mesenchymal stem cells
(MSC)was analyzed by adding terpenoid fraction of Centella asiatica. MTT assay data showed that the addition of
Pegagan on cultured MSCs can increase stem cell proliferation. Pegagan increases the ability of MSC proliferation
and differentiate into osteoblasts It is concluded that pegagan increase the ability of MSC proliferation and
differentiate into osteoblasts.

There were several mouth rinses in the market, but chlorhexidine, essential oil, triclosan-sodium fluoride mouth rinses
have often been used because of their effectivity of periodontal pathogen. They can inhibit plaque formation that they
can bind enamel surface coated pellicle. Thirty patients were recruited to the clinical of Periodontology Department
and have several criterias: no systemic disease and no crowded of teeth. The patients divided of three groups; group I
patients rinse with 0,2% chlorhexidine 15 ml, 1 minute; group II patients rinse with essential oil 15 ml, 1 minute; group
III patients rinse with triclosan-sodium fluoride 15 ml, 1 minute. According to one way ANOVA test, there were no
significant differences plaque index among of the three mouth rinses to prevent plaque formation. It was concluded that
using chlorhexidine could inhibit the growth of plaque better essential oil and triclosan-sodium fluoride.

Modern Dentistry tends to achieve esthetic and efficiency of treatment. Patient will be interfered with edentulous
condition in longterm, especially for anterior tooth. Minimal tooth preparation and short visiting time will be chosen
by most of patients. Resin-retained fixed partial denture can be the choice of treatment for partially edentulous tooth,
as definitive prosthethic or interim prosthetic. An aspect for the succesfull resin-retained fixed partial denture is the
design of bridgework. Many dentistsare avoid to provide adhesive bridge for their patients because of its high failure
rates. This paper discussed about resin-retained fixed partial denture design as information for the dentists to get the
right design for succes rate guarantee.
