Objective: This paper aims to determine the use of teledentistry and AI in the elderly to maintain the health of their oral cavity and teeth during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: Technology in dentistry today is developing very rapidly, improving the quality of dental and oral health services. During the pandemic, the elderly has concerns about Covid-19 contamination when they have to see a dentist. Their situation has led to discussions and efforts to use teledentistry and Artificial intelligence to facilitate services and care for the elderly during the pandemic.

Results: Teledentistry is used as a medium for consultation, diagnosis, referral system, treatment, and follow-up. While Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been used in diagnostic, patient data management, restoration, and CAD/CAM-based denture manufacture, detecting periodontal disease, and dental radiology.

Conclusion: Teledentistry and AI can be a promising alternative in dental and oral health services to reduce anxiety and fear of contamination with Covid-19. The technologies make it easier for health workers, especially dentists, to maintain and improve the quality of life of the elderly during the pandemic.

Objective: To explain the correlation between cariogenic (high sugar diet) with Food Neophobia (FN) in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) children. 

Material and Methods: This type of research is analytically observational with a cross-sectional design. Sampling technique purposive sampling, number of samples 65 respondents of parents/caregivers in LRD community members of suar autism. Data collection with a questionnaire for five eating patterns and FN three questions in the form of a Google Form. The data were analyzed descriptively, and the spearman rank correlation test was used to analyze the difference between diet and FN. 

Results: Children consume one to two spoons of sugar per day 95.4%; like sweet food 80%, sweet food between meals 80%; soft drinks 49.2%; non-sweet snacks 56.9%. Based on the category of the frequency distribution of neophobia food levels in children with ASD were light 32.31%, moderate 30.77%, and heavy 36.92%. Spearman rank correlation test r=0.06 p>0.05 was 0.36%. 

Conclusion: This research shows that diet pattern has a very low association with FN in children with autism spectrum disease. 

Objective: to assess awareness of senior community in the Belawa distric, Wajo, South Sulawesi, Indonesia regarding their oral soft tissue abnormality specifically regard to Oral potentially malignant disorders, and to assess community ability to descript any pain or uncomfortably origin from their oral cavity.

Methods: A self-made questionnaire written in Indonesia language was given to the old aged-adult based on WHO criteria with age range between 45 to 75 years old, who was willing to participate in this study. The questioner   consists some picture representing oral mucosal cavity with clinical feature of some ulcers, clinical feature of candida infection, and some clinical appearances of oral potentially malignant disorders.

Results: In term of oral mucosal diseases questions, 22 (55%) participants had history of ulceration, however only 5 (45%) participants could specifically point out its previous ulcer location. However, history of pain only stated by 11 (28%) participants, 24 (60%) did not experienced any pain, and 5 (12%) did not answer the questions.

Conclusion: knowledge and awareness regarding oral health lesion, especially the associated-potentially malignant lesion was far from ideal in the Belawa Community.

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the differences in the severity of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders before and after orthognathic surgery.

Material and Methods: This type of research is analytical observation with 10 subjects, who will perform orthognathic surgery at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery section in the Dental and Oral Hospital and Hasan Sadikin Hospital, then perform TMJ clinical examination with the Helkimo index, filling out the Fonseca questionnaire before and after orthognathic surgery and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) photos 7 months after orthognathic surgery. Statistical analysis using paired data test (Wilcoxon test).

Results: The results of the paired data test calculation showed that there was a difference in the degree of severity before and after surgery which was statistically significant with results-p <0.05 where after surgery there was a decrease in the severity of TMJ with using the Helkimo index and the Fonseca questionnaire.

Conclusion: Orthognathic surgery can reduce the severity of temporomandibular joint disorders, assessed by Helkimo index and Fonseca questionnaire.

Objective: Therefore, this study will reveal the effectiveness of watermelon rind extract waste in inhibiting free radicals in patients with oral leukoplakia.

Material and Methods: The extraction method used is maceration. One hundred grams of watermelon rind powder (112 g) added 700 ml of 96% ethanol. Then soak for 3 days. The extract is filtered using a filter to separate the filtrate and its residue. After that solvent evaporation was carried out until the dried extract was obtained, then tested the antioxidant activity of the extract using DPPH free radical catcher.

Results: Watermelon rind extract is classified as a powerful antioxidant because it has a ppm value ranging from 50-100 ppm.

Conclusion: It can be proven that the watermelon rind which is more often disposed of can also be used, contains vitamin C and lycopene which can connect freely to patients with leukoplakia and can be used as a support therapy for surgical therapy as a cause of leukoplakia disease.

Objective: To determine the effect of lemuru fish oil extract (Sardinella longiceps) on the number of fibroblasts in periodontal tissue of Wistar rats induced by diabetes mellitus using streptozotocin.

Material and Methods: Thirty-two Wistar rats male, were divided into 4 groups, group K0 (negative control), K1 (4ml/kgBB), K2 (8ml/kgBB), and K3 (4ml/kgBB). Rats were induced with nicotinamide and streptozotocin to create a state of diabetes. The experiment of giving lemuru fish oil extract was carried out for 21 days.The number of fibroblast cells in periodontal tissue with HE staining was performed. The data were analyzed by One-Way ANOVA and Post-Hoc LSD test.

Results: The LSD test showed a significant difference between the group without treatment and the group using treatment lemuru fish oil. Group with Lemuru fish oil can increase the number of fibroblasts and the most effective dose is 8ml/kgBB.

Conclusion: Lemuru fish oil extract (Sardinella longiceps) can increase the number of fibroblasts in periodontal tissue of Wistar rats induced by diabetes mellitus.

Objective: The aim of this treatment was to preserve the remaining tooth structure and to restore the function of the tooth

Methods: A 37-year-old female patient with a chief complaint of pain in the lower right molar tooth after root canal treated one week ago. Clinical examination revealed a cavity on the disto-occlusal side achieve half the crown of the tooth with a dentin depth. Percussion: (+), palpation: (-), mobility: (-), vitality: (-). Radiograph examination revealed radiolucent area mesial root and ± 1.5mm radiopaque images that are thought to be file fractures in the apical foramen. Vertical radiolucent lines on dental bifurcation were detected vertical bone loss was evident on mesial root of the lower right molar with furcation involvement. Management of the patient is hemi section and Porcelain fused to metal crown splinter.

Results: After one month of hemi section, no pain detected, the gingiva shows good healing, no Intra and extraoral swelling, trismus was absent, and objective examination percussion test was (-) and mobility (-).

Conclusion: Hemi section is a conservative and effective treatment of choice overcome vertical radiolucent lines on dental bifurcation and broken file in the apical foramen.

Objective: A carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma is caused by the long-term presence of pleomorphic adenoma. It is a relatively rare occurrence in the palatine glands.

Methods: A 40-year-old man was referred to our department with a complaint of an intraoral mass. At the time of the initial examination, a large elastic hard mass of approximately 10 cm in diameter accompanied by ulceration in parts was found extending from the gingiva of the molar region in the right maxilla throughout the entire palate. Based on the imaging and histopathological examination findings, the clinical diagnosis was suspected to be malignant tumor of the palate.

Results: The patient underwent palatal tumor enucleation, right-sided supraomohyoid neck dissection, and immediate reconstruction with an osteocutaneous radial forearm flap under general anesthesia. The histopathological diagnosis was myoepithelial carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma. In addition, postoperative radiation therapy was performed. There has been no evidence of recurrence or metastasis for three years postoperatively.
